This week, I was tasked with sourcing out some of the potential music that we maybe using for our graduate project TV miniseries.

To achieve this I created a document on 'Microsoft Word' with a table to clearly establish some key pieces of information with each song/music choice I noted down. An example image of this table can be found below:

The table helped articulate the information clearly to myself and my crew mates. In addition it will now save me time in reference to the post-production phase, when I get to the point of editing too.

This assignment has definitely helped me visualise and picture the production more as music/sound is a key element in a film, as its argued to be at least half, if not more of the 'films life'.

I now have a rich array of different music and styles that now needs to be shortlisted in the next production meeting with the crew and tested in a rough cut, later in the post-production phase with footage available from production.

Additional Actions:

I attended a sound workshop this week where I was demonstrated how to record high quality sound from home, some tips about recording sound remotely with talent and some potential equipment that might be worth using some of the production company budget on. The workshop provoked me to think about making a guide/document for talent, to get the best sound we can out from them.

Key Notes From Meeting This Week:

  • Feedback was made on the two episodes that have been scripted so far by all crew members

  • The necessary changes/ areas of improvement have been established and will be worked on

  • Episode 3 the final episode, is still in development

  • An excellent response has been achieved in the casting call with both national and international applications

  • Audition days are going to be organised for next week

  • We need to properly delegate the budget after casting is complete

  • Some potential equipment to invest in for production was talked about

General Assignments:

The general assignments for this week can be identified from the image below which comes from our Basecamp site:

My Assignment this week:

My assignment this week was to find copyright free songs which fit our theme of a crime drama which I have completed as well as finding some extras which I am still working on. Furthermore, we were also all individually tasked with submitting our first individual learning agreement form this week to send to our tutor. I completed this and for example, you can see mine in the image below:
