This week I managed to complete my assignment of sourcing out archive libraries and portraying to the team some titles possible in my editing package for the idea. On our team's 'Basecamp' I posted a document with relevant archive libraries links, the prices and some of the content on offer. These libraries included: The Nasa site, Storyblocks, Pond 5, Pexels, Vidsplay, Publicdomanainfootage.com, Motion Elements and YouTube. I also shared a short summary video link on YouTube to my crew about some of the titles and graphical capabilities available on my software.
Furthermore, I managed to upload a document of some ideas for my sound design in relation to episode one. I went through the script and noted particular SFX, music suggestions and listed where I could derive my sound sources from. I also suggested some particular style titles and graphics that would fit our theme.
Additional Actions
I uploaded a document titled 'Filming 101' from a project I worked on last year which gives talent and team members a better idea of how to film effectively in a remote setting.
I shared with my team members the format I helped make last year- highlighting some more visual ideas of what we could do and I explained some of the challenges I faced too during that experience so that we didn't fall into the same trap.
I will be attending a sound workshop on the 26th of February, on how to record high quality sound at home/remotely and to also learn some further tips with sound in general.
In our meeting we all discussed our findings and completion of tasks to one another and made the appropriate notes for further action. We examined predominately how the visuals would work in this particular meeting.
Key Notes from the meeting:
Framing- using CCTV footage style framing and thinking about what we show in the frame to inform our audience
A significant proportion of the budget will go towards archive material
Its preferable we pick a subscribe archive library instead of paying for material individually due to the limitations with the production budget
The first episode is predominately archive material- so a lot will be needed
Its possible that we can do our own cutaways instead of talent- for simple shots like typing on a keyboard
Auditions for casting will be held on zoom or something similar
'Nomachine' now works and offers the potential to remotely access university computers and the editing software available on it
Assignments:
The general assignments that were given to people were as follows:
Go through both scripts (episode one and two) and note down constructive comments
Make sure you create your blog posts
Watch similar style films/ TV shows created during the lockdown due to the pandemic or texts that use a lot of computer interaction etc- e.g. 'Unfriended'
My Assignment:
To address all the general assignments this week individually for next weeks meeting
